PROTECT YOURSELF. PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN. DO NOT COME TO THE
NIGHT OF
1,000 MISTAKES:
THE ANNUAL LUNGFULL GALA RELEASE BACCHANAL
RAUCOUS AUCTION + READING SATURNALIA

FROM THE EDITOR:

I’m texting you this message from behind the wheel of my friend’s car, so I’ll keep it brief:

You should avoid LUNGFULL! MAGAZINE’S NIGHT OF 1,000 MISTAKES. It’s easy to be tricked by your friendship with people in this issue or your misguided interest in contemporary literature and innovative writing — just as I used to be tricked by “bike lanes” and “stop signs.” But, like you, I am now too busy for that kind of nonsense.

Like you, I’ve got too much going on to leave a note on every car I sideswipe. And like me, you don’t have the time to be swept up into the sweet arms of LUNGFULL! magazine – to run off with the awfully-named anthology of horrible mistakes for one glorious night of even worse ones. Unless a little ruin is what you truly desire — the way winter desires spring — unless you know the secret to the good life is not making trouble for yourself, it is making trouble *as* yourself…

Lungfull! magazine is an annual anthology of terrible mistakes — a compilation of contemporary poetry in which we print the rough drafts alongside the final versions so the reader can see the creative process as it happens. And, going on the assumption that mistakes will continue to happen, the cover is entirely waterproof — perfect for reading while inebriated or in the shower or both. Despite the irreverent tone of this message, we’re all up with intellectual rigor and aesthetic experimentation, bringing together a host of emerging and established writers from across myriad literary traditions.

Here's what's in store:

1. READING SATURNALIA

Hosted by Brendan Lorber

Many of the contributors will be on hand to read a smidge of their work and undo all that reconstructive surgery after last year's event melted your face. Contributors to this issue are: Pierre Joris, David Perry, C.E. Putnam, Olga Pekovâ, Áeljko Miti?, Megan M. Garr, Shane Anderson, Tim Atkins, Nina Zivancevic, Jessica Fiorini, Ish Klein & Greg Purcell, Sparrow, Bernadette Mayer, Philip Good, Robin F. Brox, John Most, Dana Ward, Janine Hayes, Shafer Hall, Miekal And, The Skràuss, John Colburn, Sarah Fox, Lauren Ireland, Sara Wintz, Adam Mccgraw, Andrew Boston , Ben Kopel, Cait Turner, Cat Richardson, Charles Springer, Christine Kanownik, Claire Hong Meuschke , Daniel Owen, Darren C. 2. RAUCOUS AUCTION

Barked by Todd Colby. Items presented by Tracey McTague.

The opposite of a silent auction or the demure goings-on at Sotheby's - people will be leaping from their seats, yelling at each other when the bidding heats up. Yelling terrible, terrible things. (And then buying each other a drink afterwards.) It'll be like a 1930's trainyard hobo camp with only one bowl of fresh pinkerton soup to go around - but in a good way.

3. INSURRECTIONIST RELEASE GALA

Hosted by all the editors.

Meet the thoughtforms who make the magazine and do terrible things to them, just as they have done to poetry. Meet the contributors and offer your condolences on having been printed by Lungfull. Impair your judgment through whatever means seem most applicable and permit yourself to speak/act on wild impulse. It will be intimate and expansive / untoward and proper / half end-of-the-world half start-of-a-new-one / goodnight moon meets hello kitty / a midnight picnic on interstate 10's refinery alley / as if a million voices cried out in terror and then — it turns out Alderon was just fine / like if the Coen & Zucker Brothers had kids with the Andrews & Kardashian sisters and nobody could tell whose were whose but you had to play MFK with them all for realz / It will put to shame all prurient experiences you have ever has and demolish all the old vice/virtue dualities.
